Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo (Z32) · 1990–1996

The Z32 300ZX reinvented the nameplate with an intercooled twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6, Super HICAS four-wheel steering and a low, wide body that still looks modern, and it was named MotorTrend Import Car of the Year for 1990. The Twin Turbo five-speed, especially a low-mile unmodified two-seat T-top, is the spec collectors want.

The one to have: Twin Turbo (Z32) with the five-speed manual: the intercooled VG30DETT twin-turbo V6, Super HICAS four-wheel steer and T-top body, ideally a low-mileage unmodified two-seater. Turbo cars are usually modified, so a stock manual TT with records is the buy.

Know the real one

Z32 chassis. The Twin Turbo pairs the intercooled VG30DETT V6 with Super HICAS four-wheel steering and variable valve timing, wrapped in a wind-tunnel body that helped it win MotorTrend Import Car of the Year for 1990.
The US Twin Turbo was sold 1990 to 1996 as a two-seat T-top or 2+2, with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic; the two-seat manual T-top is the one collectors seek.
The dense twin-turbo engine bay, packed with hoses and hard-to-reach ancillaries, makes deferred maintenance expensive, so a documented, unmodified car is worth a clear premium over a boosted project.
The market is bifurcated: ordinary driver manual TTs sit in the high teens to mid-$20,000s, while genuinely low-mile stock manuals have pulled away, headlined by a 22,000-mile 1994 that set the auction record at $135,000 in 2022.
